3D Model mattress

3D modeling contribution for the "Сонит" (Sonit) mattress brand commercial. As a 3D Artist / Modeler, I created a highly detailed, anatomically accurate mattress model featuring multiple internal layers (springs, foam, latex) and a realistic quilted fabric cover — optimized for exploded-view animations and product cutaway shots.

Project Overview: Contributed as a 3D Modeler to a commercial CGI video for the "Сонит" mattress brand. My role focused on creating a production-ready, highly detailed 3D mattress model designed for product visualization — showcasing both the internal engineering and premium external finish of the product.


Modeling Scope:

  • Internal layers: Modeled every structural component of the mattress — independent spring blocks, comfort foam layers, latex, memory foam, and protective membranes — with accurate real-world proportions based on manufacturer specifications.

  • External cover: Created a realistic quilted fabric cover with detailed stitching, texture variation, and soft-surface deformation for photorealistic rendering.

  • Exploded view preparation: Built the model with separated, animation-ready layers, allowing the animation team to create cutaway and exploded-view shots that reveal the mattress's internal engineering.

  • UV & materials: Prepared clean UV maps and material assignments for seamless handoff to the texturing and rendering pipeline.


Technical Approach:

  • Topology: Clean, animation-friendly quad geometry with proper edge loops — essential for smooth layer separation during exploded-view animations.

  • Accuracy: Every layer modeled to real-world thickness and proportions to match the actual product and support marketing claims.

  • Soft-surface modeling: Combined hard-surface precision (internal layers) with soft-surface techniques (fabric cover, stitching) in a single production asset.

  • Pipeline integration: Delivered organized hierarchy and naming conventions for immediate use by animators and render artists.


Tools Used: Cinema 4D / Blender for modeling, with UV preparation for texturing in Substance / Redshift pipeline.


Results:

  • Delivered a complex, multi-component product model ready for both beauty shots and technical exploded-view animations.

  • The model became the central visual asset of the commercial, clearly communicating product quality and engineering to the audience.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate real-world product specs into clean, render-ready 3D geometry for commercial storytelling.
